giving rescued primates a lifelong home while defending monkeys and their habitats worldwide
About Wild Futures
Wild Futures is a UK charity that runs The Monkey Sanctuary in Cornwall, rescuing primates from neglect and campaigning to end the keeping of monkeys as pets.
Monkeys are intelligent, deeply social animals, and they suffer profoundly when kept alone as domestic pets. In the UK they can still end up isolated, poorly housed and in distress, while wild primate populations face mounting pressure from habitat loss. Wild Futures exists to give rescued animals a better life and to challenge the trade that harms them.
With roots going back to 1964, when The Monkey Sanctuary was founded to rescue woolly monkeys from the pet trade, the charity has grown into a recognised authority on primate welfare. From its Cornwall base it provides specialist, lifelong care in naturalistic enclosures where rescued monkeys can live socially, the way their nature demands.
The work reaches well beyond the sanctuary gates. Wild Futures advises government and works with other organisations to press for an end to the primate pet trade, educates tens of thousands of visitors and students each year, and supports conservation projects overseas. It receives no government funding and is committed to directing donations straight into care and campaigning.
A home for life for rescued primates, and a future where no monkey is kept as a pet: that is what the charity is working towards. Support keeps the sanctuary running, the rescues coming and the case for stronger protection in front of decision-makers.
