Funding frontline projects that protect Africa's endangered wildlife and the communities who share their land.
About Over and Above Africa
Over and Above Africa is a US-based charity, founded by filmmaker Kerry David, that funds small, ground-level conservation projects protecting Africa's wildlife and the communities who share their landscapes.
Two crises sit at the centre of their work: the commercial poaching of endangered animals, and the rising conflict between people and wildlife as growing populations push animals into ever-smaller spaces. Their starting point is that humans and wildlife share one planet, and that we will only thrive if we find a way to live alongside each other.
The charity's model is built around micro-funding. Small donations from a global community, from as little as a few dollars a month, are pooled and directed to carefully chosen projects on the ground, often the kind of local initiatives larger organisations overlook. Members' donations go directly to the projects and people they support.
Those partnerships are personal. The team works with rangers, vets, reserves and community groups they know and trust, and backs projects that protect wildlife while strengthening the communities around them. Their funded work spans many species and places, from elephants and cheetahs to rhinos, pangolins and primates, across countries including Botswana, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Cameroon.
Storytelling holds it together. The charity films the projects it funds so supporters can see exactly what their giving achieves. That transparency, and the belief that anyone can help, is what drives them. Supporting their work puts funds straight into frontline conservation. ecoflix is proud to help tell those stories.
