About Humane World for Animals
Humane World for Animals is a global non-profit, formed from the Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society International, that works to end animal cruelty and suffering in all its forms.
Animals suffer in countless ways, from factory farms and testing laboratories to puppy mills, animal fighting, the dog and cat meat trade and the loss of wild habitat. Humane World for Animals works to tackle the root causes of that cruelty rather than only its symptoms, with the aim of creating change that lasts.
The organisation carries forward a record stretching back to 1954, now operating under a single global identity across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, North America and Australia. It combines many forms of expertise, from scientists and policy specialists to litigators and rescuers, so it can take on entrenched problems at scale.
Its work spans companion animals, farmed animals, wildlife and animals used in research. That means rescuing animals and responding to emergencies, running sanctuaries, pressing for stronger laws, shifting corporate practice and campaigning to end practices such as trophy hunting and the testing of products on animals. It also champions everyday animal welfare, from access to veterinary care to keeping pets and families together.
Supporting this work helps protect animals across the world and build momentum for permanent reform. The organisation holds to the belief that every individual can make a difference, welcoming supporters whatever their starting point in the effort to build a more humane world.
