Growing Calf Jai Dee Still Cherishes Time With His Mother

At five years old, the young elephant remains devoted to his mother Mho Jae, offering a heartening glimpse of a natural family bond.

At five years old, Jai Dee—also known as Sa Ngae—has grown so much that he now stands nearly as tall as his mother, Mho Jae.

Yet despite his size, he remains a "little boy" at heart, and he is not quite ready to give up his mother's milk.

Mho Jae often encourages him towards a little more independence, gently nudging her son to explore the world on his own terms.

Even so, the pair remain closely bonded, a reminder of the deep and enduring relationships that shape elephant families.

The story comes from the Save Elephant Foundation, an Ecoflix partner, which works to protect elephants and give them the space to live as naturally as possible.

For many elephants, the chance to grow up alongside their mother is far from guaranteed. Seeing Jai Dee and Mho Jae side by side is a hopeful sign of what recovery and care can make possible.

As Jai Dee continues to grow, he is slowly learning the ways of an adult elephant, all while keeping the affectionate habits of his younger years.

It is a gentle, encouraging picture of family life among these remarkable animals.
