The questions before the gift.
Common questions about how Ecoflix Foundation works, how donations route, and where the money lands.
GivingHow do I donate?
The easiest way is our donate page — a one-tap Apple Pay / Google Pay / Link lane sits at the top for anyone with a wallet on their device, and a full card / bank checkout sits below it. For ongoing support, you can also set up a recurring gift through the Circle of Giving.
Every payment is processed by Stripe — PCI DSS Level 1, 256-bit TLS, the same processor Amazon, Shopify and Target use. We never see or store your card details. International donors can give in any major currency (the amount is shown locally; the card is charged in USD at your bank's day rate).
GivingCan I cancel or change a recurring gift?
Yes — any time, no questions asked. You can pause, change the amount, or cancel a recurring gift from the link in your last receipt email, or by writing to hello@ecoflix.com.
We never lock donors into anything. The Circle of Giving is a commitment you make — not one we hold over you.
GivingWhat payment methods do you accept?
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay, ACH and SEPA bank transfer, and PayPal. Larger gifts can be made by wire — contact us for routing details.
We also accept stock and cryptocurrency donations for gifts over $1,000. See the impact report for the routing process.
GivingCan I donate in GBP or EUR?
Yes. UK donors are routed through Ecoflix Foundation UK (Registered Charity 1200441) and can claim Gift Aid. EU donors are processed in EUR through our European payment partner and receive a sterling-or-euro-denominated receipt.
All other international donors give in USD through Ecoflix Foundation Inc.
GivingCan I give a donation in someone's name?
Yes — at checkout you can dedicate a donation in someone's name, in memory of someone, or as a gift. We'll send a tasteful e-card with your message on a date you choose.
For larger named gifts, you can also dedicate a specific project page or contribute to one of our gift memberships.
TaxIs my donation tax-deductible in the US?
Yes. Ecoflix Foundation Inc. is a US 501(c)(3) not-for-profit (EIN C2568417). All donations from US taxpayers are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. You'll receive an itemised receipt by email immediately, and a year-end statement in January.
TaxDoes Gift Aid work for UK donors?
Yes. Ecoflix Foundation UK is a registered UK charity (Charity Number 1200441). If you're a UK taxpayer, ticking the Gift Aid box adds 25% to your donation at no cost to you. We claim it directly from HMRC.
TaxWhat about international donors?
Donors in Canada, Australia, Ireland, the Netherlands and Germany can typically claim tax relief through the equivalent local provisions. We issue a USD or GBP receipt that your accountant can use to file.
If you're unsure, write to hello@ecoflix.com and we'll connect you with our finance team.
TaxWhen will I receive my receipt?
Immediately — within 30 seconds of a successful donation, an itemised email receipt is sent to the address you provided. If it doesn't arrive, check your spam folder first, then write to us. We can reissue any receipt by hand within 24 hours.
TaxDo you send a year-end statement?
Yes. In the first week of January each year, every donor who gave more than $250 (US) or £100 (UK) in the prior tax year receives an aggregated year-end statement suitable for filing.
Smaller donors can request one on demand at any time.
MoneyIs it really 100% pass-through?
Yes. Zero percent of donor money is taken to cover Ecoflix Foundation's overhead. Donations route into a segregated programme account and are released only to partner NGOs running active projects.
The only deduction is the payment processor's transaction fee (typically 1.9–2.9%), which you can opt to cover at checkout. If you don't cover it, the Foundation does — from operating funds, never from your gift.
MoneyWho covers your overhead, then?
The Foundation's salaries, infrastructure and legal costs are covered by a small group of founders and corporate partners, plus revenue from the Ecoflix streaming channel. None of this comes out of donor gifts.
Our annual audited accounts (downloadable on the impact report) confirm this every year.
MoneyCan I see the audit?
Yes. The full audited statements, Form 990 (US) and Annual Return (UK) are downloadable as PDFs from the impact report. So are the bylaws, board composition, salary bands and a 24-month audit log.
MoneyCan I designate my donation to a specific project?
Yes. Every project page has a direct donate button — give there and your gift is earmarked for that specific NGO and that specific budget line.
You can also give to the greatest need pool, which is distributed quarterly to the projects furthest from their funding target.
MoneyWhat happens to unused funds at a project?
If a project reaches its funded target before all earmarked gifts arrive, surplus funds are first offered back to the same NGO for an extension to the same programme. If they can't be deployed there, they roll into the greatest-need pool — never into our overhead, never to general operations.
Donors who gave more than $500 to a fully-funded project are notified by email of the routing before it happens.
PartnersHow do I become an NGO partner?
NGOs can apply through our partnership page. We work only with organisations that are registered in their home jurisdiction, have a verifiable on-the-ground track record, and pass our due-diligence and welfare review.
The application takes about 45 minutes to fill in. From there, the review process takes 6–10 weeks.
PartnersHow do corporate partnerships work?
Corporate partners support the Foundation's operating costs (covering staff and infrastructure so donor money stays 100% in the field) and co-fund flagship projects. Tiers start at $25,000/year.
Email partnerships@ecoflix.com for a deck and current programme menu.
PartnersWhat's the application process?
For NGOs: written application → financial and governance review → welfare and field-practice interview → board approval → first grant cycle. We also visit applicant projects on the ground before committing.
For corporate partners: introductory call → due-diligence on alignment (we politely decline industries that conflict with our mission) → MoU and first programme commitment.
PartnersIs there a minimum commitment?
For NGO partners, no — we work with single-project organisations as well as large multinationals. Minimum project size is typically $10,000 to make the audit and reporting overhead worthwhile.
For corporate partners, the entry tier is $25,000/year, on a 24-month minimum term.
ChannelIs the channel membership tax-deductible?
No — the streaming channel (watch.ecoflix.com) is a commercial subscription, not a donation. Channel revenue partly funds the Foundation's operating costs, which keeps donor money 100% in the field.
If you want a tax-deductible gift, donate through the Foundation. If you want films, subscribe to the channel. Most supporters do both.
ChannelWhere is the channel available?
Globally on web and mobile, with native apps for iOS, Android, Apple TV, Fire TV, Roku and Chromecast. A handful of titles are geo-restricted by their broadcast partners, but the great majority of the catalogue plays everywhere.
ChannelDo I need a membership and a donation?
No — they're separate. You can donate without subscribing, subscribe without donating, or both. They serve different jobs.
The donation funds the work on the ground. The membership funds the films, the journalism and the education programmes.
AboutWhen was Ecoflix founded?
The Ecoflix idea began with a 2017 visit to the Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai. The streaming channel launched in 2020. The Foundation was incorporated as a US 501(c)(3) in 2021 and as a UK registered charity in 2022.
The full timeline is on the our story page.

A small executive team operates day-to-day. A Board of Directors (six) handles governance. An Advisory Board (eleven specialists across conservation, law, science and media) reviews every project pro-bono.
