Getting captive elephants out of circuses, zoos and tourism, and into ethical sanctuaries across North America and Asia.
About Free All Captive Elephants
Free All Captive Elephants is a non-profit working to move elephants out of captivity and into ethical sanctuaries where they can recover.
Elephants held in circuses, zoos, riding camps and tourism venues often endure cruelty from the very start of their captive lives. The brutal breaking process used to make young elephants submissive, and the control that follows, inflicts lasting physical and psychological harm on animals that would never naturally accept such treatment.
Free All Captive Elephants approaches the problem through education, intervention and legislative change. It tracks elephants kept in circuses, campaigns for stronger state and federal protections, and champions individual animals through dedicated awareness efforts so that their stories are not forgotten.
The organisation also produces film and educational content to reach a wider public, including a short narrated documentary on elephants leaving captivity. Its focus spans North America and Asia, where so many elephants remain in circuses, riding camps and tourism, and it builds public support for individual animals and for stronger laws alike.
Given space to roam, the company of other elephants and the freedom to make their own choices, rescued elephants can begin to heal from years of trauma. The contrast between a life in chains and a life in sanctuary is what drives the cause. Supporting this work helps fund advocacy, legal reform and the campaigns that bring captive elephants closer to sanctuary.
